Our precious father, Richard Beebe Downing, Sr. went to be with the Lord and his loving wife of 54 years, Sue (predeceased by 10 years) on Sunday 3-7-2010. Richard was born and reared in Lakewood, NJ on 9 -9 -1923. He was All State in football at Lakewood High. After graduation, he joined the Army Air Corp and served bravely and honorably on Iwo Jima. After WWII he attended and played football a U of M, and met Sue at a college dance there. Richard is survived by 3 children; Trudie Houghton, Richard, Jr. (Regina) and Scott (Karen), 7 grand and 3 great grandchildren and his dog Snoopy. He was an outstanding resident of Coral Gables, and a well known building contractor in Miami. Visitation 1 pm until Service time 2 pm Friday 3-12-10 at Granada Presbyterian Church, 950 University Drive, Coral Gables. Interment at Miami Memorial Park.
